i. I often find Myself wondering, Wondering if I Am the proper person To be a poet The archetype: Jaded, depressed In love, heartbroken But where am I? ii. Two things constant: Love and loss Capture minds and hearts, Pushing for a glimpse Through the window I sit here, Heart in front Of me, a knife poised Where do I cut So that The most beautiful Words spurt into The faces of readers, Staining them forever? iii. To give my Anger direction, But at what? The obvious answers: My father, The world, What was, is Or will be iv. Poet. Noun. One who spills Blood with ink. Is that not enough?

I was printed on the evening of November 27th, 2008, just as the weather was turning from chilly to cold. I was tomorrow's news. At the moment I came off the press, I told the future. I knew things before the rest of the world; it was wonderful. I knew what my purpose was: to inform as many people as possible about the world's happenings. As I was put to bed, bound against my brothers and sisters, I dreamt of being passed around a construction site, making sure all the workers were aware of which sports team triumphed, and which celebrity was getting a divorce. I dreamt that corporate peons debated over politics, and the state of the economy

Compulsory Update on Life + Work

It's not that I haven't been writing—I have and I've been the most prolific I've been in a long while—it's that I'm not publishing here much, if at all anymore. With time I've slowly improved my writing. Given the increase, I'm attempting to seek venues for publishing. Most publishers do not accept work published in any medium. But I can assure you I've been writing. Over the summer I also read once weekly at a local open mic. I met a lot of talented people, and my confidence in my writing skyrocketed thanks to kind words. With the beginning of my final year of college, I'm going to find an ideal work-life balance. Hopefully. I h

An Update on My Life + Work

So things have been going pretty well since my last journal entry, and I'm definitely gonna knock on wood once I'm done with this. I'm writing a LOT lately, and a lot of what I've been writing (I think) is actually pretty good. I've been looking up some lit mags to submit to, too. That being said, a lot of what I write isn't going to see this website until the unlikely event that it gets put in a mag, since any public online content is considered prior publication. I've got a Google doc set up with a handful of poems I'm saving for eventual submission, and sharing that with a select few people who I think would give good feedback. I'm hoping

I'm Writing, I Swear

I've just had a super busy summer between work and social obligations, and now I'm on vacation visiting family in Germany. I've got about a dozen (so far) poems that I need to proofread and edit and decide if I even want to upload them, but that will get done once I get home.
